De 'nieuwe' man bestond vroeger ook al, en hij deed zelfs af en toe de afwas, getuige deze illustratie. A man's got to do what a man's got to do. Als een vrouw de afwas doet, is dat normaal. Als een man het doet is het een gebeurtenis. Evan Esar wist het al: "Housework is what a woman does that nobody notices unless she hasn't done it."
